My working relationship with Jenne Leedes began when I met her at her house and the site of her accommodation – Greenmeadows on Gloucester (studio & private apartment Taradale accommodation) and Bike About Tours (full-service Napier bike hire and tours).
I redid her Greenmeadows on Gloucester site over December and the start of January, and then moved onto the Bike About Tours site while monitoring the other. With a lot more information to convey it took us longer to get it live online but we had it mostly done by mid-April.
About Bike About Tours
Bike About Tours is one of the first operators in the area to offer day bike hire and self-guided cycling holidays. Guests have the option to just rent bikes and look after themselves – Jenne has maps on hand and all bikes come well-equipped with baskets and bags for carrying supplies. For a small surcharge (price varies with distance) guests can be transported with bikes in tow to allow people to get anywhere in Napier, Hastings & Havelock Nth. Get dropped off, picked up, or both. Jenne is flexible and can accommodate legs that become unusually tired – often associated with an afternoon of enjoying the amazing Hawke’s Bay wine & food along the way!
Jenne is a true people person and goes out of her way to ensure her guests have the best time possible.
Bike About Tours Website Redesign
Jenne built the 2 websites for the businesses herself and did an incredible job. The sites were fine and guests weren’t complaining of problems, but they weren’t mobile responsive, and with nearly half of tourism traffic coming from cellphones and tablets it was time to make a switch.
The first thing I noticed with the Bike About Tours site was that entry to both sites was through the homepage. Jenne had a portal to both her sites as the same homepage for both sites, so that people would see she did related businesses.
While we decided it’s great that she can advertise both, it would be better for her guests if they could go straight to what they were looking for and make it clear at the right place and time that there were accompanying options should people want them.
It was also clear that Jenne has a fantastic eye for detail and understands a lot of guests need thorough explanations. Her tour pages were extremely detailed. We decided that it was fantastic she had taken the time to layout the tours in so much detail, and moved this to an expandable section where people could become engaged first, and those who chose to take it further (as many do) could click for more.
Jenne now has analytics on her site and will be seeing a lot of traffic from mobile devices – this is a necessity in her industry. Analytics also are showing her where her traffic is coming from, what sites are sending her the most, who to say thanks to, who to work more with. She can also see where people are searching from and if it is more last minute – once people have arrived, or prior to the trip. This will help her make advertising decisions with regards to flyers, online advertising and so on.
Jenne is a fantastic woman to work with and I know her business will always be booming.
